Checklist for Financial Aid

  • To receive federal, state or institutional aid for study abroad a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be received by the Financial Aid Office. If you have already submitted a FAFSA for the same academic year you intend to study abroad, do not complete another one. Apply online or pick up a FAFSA at the Financial Aid Office, 105 Behmler Hall.
  • Apply to a Study Abroad program through UMM's Center for International Programs. Once you have been accepted into a Study Abroad program you will be given an official Study Abroad Cost Estimate (SACE) form. Apply for the English Language Teaching Assistant Program (ELTAP) through the Division of Education. Once you have been accepted into an ELTAP program you will be given a Cost Estimate form.
  • Submit your SACE/Cost Estimate form to the Financial Aid Office approximately two months before you leave the country. If your financial aid eligibility changes, the Financial Aid Office will send you a revised electronic financial aid award (eFAAN) via your University e-mail account. If you have questions, schedule an appointment with a financial aid advisor to discuss your financial aid needs or to resolve any outstanding issues that could impact your eligibility and delivery of your financial aid.
  • Contact the Business Office to make arrangements to receive your credit balance check, make certain your mailing address is accurate and current with the University. Credit balance checks are never forwarded or mailed to international destinations or non-University of Minnesota Morris programs. You can also set up direct deposit for your credit balance.
