As you begin your survey of Francophone African and Caribbean cultures, first you should:

  • Discover WHAT we mean by the term "francophone"
  • Identify WHICH African and Caribbean cultures actually are francophone
Once you have done this, proceed to the assignment below.

Assignment 1

You have learned some general things about the Francophone world. Now, let's get specific! First, choose a country in Africa or the Caribbean that interests you, and follow one of the links below to learn a little more about it. Surf the web to gather information. Then, go and post a message to the discussion board letting your classmates know what you found out. You don't have to write a lot -- just include some basic information (like location, population, languages spoken, etc.) and anything you found particularly interesting about the country. Finally, read some of your classmates' postings.
