Physics Class Balloon Launch

After a couple of months of planning and instrument building, Prof. McIntosh's experimental physics class sent a helium-filled balloon 90,000 feet up in the earth's atmosphere. More information about the launch and some photos can be seen on this web page.

Visit to Army High-Performance Computing Research Center and the Twin Cities Campus

On March 23, 2006, a group of 11 students and 2 faculty took a trip to the Twin Cities in order to visit several landmarks in computer modeling. More.

Physics Weather Station at UMM

Prof. Sylke Boyd manages a weather station on top of the science building that automatically downloads data to a web page. Prof. Boyd has taught a first-year seminar course on weather and has developed a new course on the physics of weather.
