Ethnobotanical/Economic Uses: This subtropic evergreen shrub produces pure white, fragrant flowers followed by crimson, pulpy berries containingthe two seeds or `beans` which are roasted into coffee. This is the superior type of `Blue Mountain` coffee grown at higher altitudes and in cooler climates. This species is also the `Brazilian Coffee` grown in Sao Paulo since 1727.
